Help needed for routing sound

Hi all,
quite new to Linux and would enjoy a bit of help as already spent days googling around and testing but still haven't manage to make it and becoming a bit frustrated.
I have installed the new Edgy distro, managed to get almost everything working with it (tkx to all post and help btw) but still can't make my PCTV card sound go through the optical output of my onboard sound card. Sound comes in by the Line-in and seems to be routed to the analog output as can hear it by the headphone.
I have reinstalled ALSA drivers, lib & utils, tried configuring a asoundrc file, but either I am stupid or doing wrong. All sounds like system, streaming, cd are working fine by the optical output, but this tv sound don't.
Will post anything needed and would really appreciate help in solving it as this is the last part that keeps me from sayin bye bye to ...

Best regards

Seb
