I am a beginner so please be patient. I don't quite yet understand the world of Linux so simplistic replies will be appreciated! Been out of the computer world basically for over 10 years and am looking forward to a new challenge.

So, I burned Unbuntu to cd. Bios is set to boot from CD then HD.

OK. so i restart system, cd starts chugging along and nothing but a stupid winxp screen - not a hint of linux!

HELP! I am really clueless and to make a long story short I want winXessivlyPainfull off of my system...NOW!

I did try searching the net and this site but so far nothing makes sense to me.

I love learning, but am really frustrated right now.
Your quick response would be GREATLY appreciated. Want this done an hour ago!

So many things to check. So, are you absotively and posilutely certain that your bios is set to boot from CD first? How about telling it to just look for CDs and not to boot from disk?

Second, are you certain you burned the proper ISO into your disk? Also, and I ask this 'cause Ive seen it happen a couple of times. Are you sure you didn't burned the image (the ISO file) as file into your disk?
