Question ext3 file system error on installing

The message I get is " The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCS13 (0.0.0) failed.

I checked the tools in the Ubuntu menu and it showed my USB External Hard drive had been partitioned. I also was able to down load and install some applications such as IRC but when I shut down and tried to boot to the drive I got the old no operating system found message. I tried several times to install and get the same message every time. HELP

I can't help you with your problem but I'll bet that you will have better luck finding someone that can if you use a more descriptive subject line. 'Help' just doesn't cut it here...
