Your hardware should be OK but you haven't posted any info on that. Compare your hardware to the minimum requirements at the page below for Kubuntu:

I don't see how that would help, if you thinkg installing Kubuntu to a blank drive. Why not try installing Kubuntu again on sda3. Your previous install obviously was not successful and it might work on a second try, or not?
The first line in your bootinfoscript indicates Grub on the mbr and core.img is where it should be and then states "looks in partition 112 for "
On a functioning system with Grub, it should say the actual partition where the Grub files are located which, in your case would be sda3. If you can't chroot to reinstall Grub and get it to boot, reinstalling might be easier. Certainly wouldn't take three days.
