gpg error

hello, i'm not sure if anyone has had this problem but i have all of sudden had a strange gpg error when refreshing my app list in synaptic on ubuntu:

W: GPG error: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hoary-updates Release: Unknown error executing gpgv
W: GPG error: http://security.ubuntu.com hoary-security Release: Unknown error executing gpgv
W: GPG error: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hoary Release: Unknown error executing gpgv

i don't think this affecting the list or installation of anything but it wasn't doing it until now. i remember installing some updates yesterday, maybe that did it. is there any way i should particularly troubleshoot this?

i just installed 6.06 dapper Ubuntu for my "server" and i am getting these errors:

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

i re-run it but same errors. I even have updated my source.list
