Google Earth- X11

Hello,

I'm trying to install Google Earth. I am in gnome, open up gnome terminal and run the GoogleEarthLinux.bin and get the following:

root@aquaboot:/home/userzero/Desktop/downloads# sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 4.0.1693..................................................................
You don't see to be running an X server (no DISPLAY set).
Google Earth and its installer both require X11.
Aborting...
root@aquaboot:/home/userzero/Desktop/downloads#

I'm sure I'll kick myself when I get the answer, but for now, I don't understand quite what its asking for.

Thanks Much,

ab

It could be that if you type echo $DISPLAY as root, there won't be a value set. I'd log in as userzero, confirm that $DISPLAY isn't empty and run:
Code:
sudo sh /home/userzero/Desktop/downloads/GoogleEarthLinux.bin

Thanks for the reply. Yep, I'm kicking myself. I was logged in as root. I need to be the local account (userzero) for google earth to grab the x11 seesion.

TRhanks Much,

ab
