gnome panel keeps crashing when items get docked to the sys tray. xmms / yahelite ( wine )

i filed bug report -http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407262
it includes debug info. i attempt to fix myself. here are the steps i took
1 reinstall gnome-panel 2.16.1 using apt-get ( the one that comes with distro ) - fail
2 compiled gnome-panel 2.16.2 from source ( gnome webby ) - fail
3 compiled gnome-panel 2.16.3 from source ** ** - not sure ( failed first time i turn on xmms and yahelite. so i restart manually . problem hasnt happened again. not sure if problem fixed 100% or just a fluke, and when i turn on tomorow will return. i have ran out of answers so i figure maybe someone here can help
