gdm freeze with hardy

Hello, I just upgraded to hardy alpha 4, and gdm is freezing after booting. (Ctrl-Alt-F* toggles no longer work, and the screen stays scrambled looking.) My Xorg logs are clean. The gdm logs
have a message "expected keysym, got XF86KbdLightOnOff: line 70 of pc"
but otherwise looks fine. I have an ATI Radeon IGP 330M/340M/350M card.
Has anyone encountered this?

Well, that's alpha material you are using there, you can't really expect it to work out of the box. I think such issues should be submitted to the developer team as a bug.
