i want install gcc on xubuntu 6.06 but i'm newbie with xubuntu can you tell me how to insall it and what packages i must download, thk before!

Just use:

sudo aptitude install build-essential

That will install gcc, make, etc.

or if you don't like using the terminal go to you package manager under systems and click on one of the things listed (right hand side) and type gcc once it come up click it and mark for install and then hit apply
