Font Color in Libre Document after upgrade

I, recently updated to v. 11.10 and can no longer change the font color when desired. I have all the verses in my post in dark red but cannot get my comments back to basic black. My screen resolution is 1027x768 for my aging eyes and the Color Icon is in the Drop Menu at the left lower row and does not have the drop arrow to choose the color.
