File associations in Kubuntu (7.04)

I find it strange that Kubuntu (7.04) doesn't seem to have the normal KDE tool for assigning applications to file types. For example, in openSUSE (KDE) you go to Personal Settings -> KDE Components -> File Associations.

In Kubuntu, one can only assign default apps for mail, web-browsing and such. Currently if I click a .txt file its opened with OOo, which is a shame. How do I get it to use Kate by default, for example?

Actually, I think it is the other way around. Kubuntu has what you normally see and Suse has a custom one. Anyway, you right click the file you want to open, select open with then select the app, then check always..., then you are done.
