Evolution-2.6 not found

I have just upgraded from Ubuntu 6.06 to 6.10.
On boot up, when the desktop opens i have the error message:
.............................................
Could not load icon 'evolution-2.6' not found
.............................................
I clear this and see a new icon in the tool bar (a footprint) which has the label "Evolution, The Evolution PIM and Email client".
If I click on this I get an error message;
...........................................................................
Could not launch application
Failed to execute child process, "evolution-2.6 (No such file or directory)
...........................................................................
The normal Evolution icon is in the tool bar (clock and envelope) and that runs the usual Diary, Address Book etc.
It appears I do not need evolution 2.6 so how do I get rid of the error messages and unwanted icon?
OR if 2.6 offers something new, how do I fix it?
Thanks

Let me ask a slightly different question;
Where do I find the list of programs/files that start on Boot Up?
In Windows these are in the Start up menu.
The reason I ask is that if I can find where this Evolution-2.6 comes from, I can remove it.
Thanks

Hi, I don't know if this will help you or not because I'm a complete newbie, but I saw this today and I thought maybe it could help. There are messages prior and after that can give you more information, but this seems to be where there was some resolution. Again, I don't know all the specifics, but this seems to be similar to what you were talking about.

Best wishes.

Thanks Whitestar,
I was surprised that I did not get a response to my question, I would have thought a lot of people would know the answer but no reply but yours.
I did eventually solve it by using 'dpkg'.
Thank you for your input.
Cliff
