Error with repositories upgrading to Dapper

I'm currently running Ubuntu 5.10, and recently tried to update to dapper.
After the upgrade dialogue started, I was entually met with this error.
"Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...86/Packages.gz Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)"

Come to mention it, I've had difficulty connecting to the universe/multi-verse repositories. I think that it might be a problem with my sources.list file. If someone could post a copy of completely enabled sources.list file, I can see if that solves the problem. If not, we can trouble shoot from there.

Thanks,
vital101

Try using this to generate an appropriate sources.list. Just remember to keep a backup of the old one.

Approximately how big is the upgrade? ie is it just better to download Dapper CD?

I belive it's just better to download the cd. Upgraded to dapper and there were all sorts of problems. Use the repo list that he presents for Dapper or you will have a lot of problems obtaining the packages that you might want.

The upgrade's about as big as an .ISO. The advantage of downloading the actual Dapper CD is that if you choose to reinstall again, you don't have to redownload everything--the CD's right there.

Then again, it'll be a Beta CD, not the final Dapper.
