Question ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)

How can I make a ubuntu box listen to connections?

I'm installing mambo and It's saying that the system is offline. My guess is that MySQL is not listening to connections.

I tried this:
Code:
# mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -u mambo
ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)
How can I configure MySQL to listen to "remote" connections?

if user "mambo" has a password, you need to add "-p" to the c/l

I was forgetting the -p. You're right on that. However, t didn't work. That's because mysql is not listening to TCP (or UDP ???) connections:

Code:
# mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -u mambo -p
Enter password:
ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)
# netstat -lpnut | grep mysql
#
See?

edit the file my.cnf of mysql, and comment the line
skip-networking and restart mysql.
