Emacs and COBOL

Hi, I am an old Cobol mainframe programmer. Lately I read Emacs can be used for editing Cobol programs (see http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/cobol-mode.el) I have downloaded and saved the cobol-mode.el,but I dont know where to save it for Emacs to find how to use a .COB file. Can someone please help me with this?

I have Ubuntu Gutsy and emacs ver 22.1.1

Thank you for responding. I have saved the cobol-mode.el where I guess emacs would find it, namely both in the /usr/share/emacs/..... folder, and in my home .emacs folder. But absolutely nothing when it come to syntax highlight or formatting the text 'cobol like'.
I am an emacs newbie, and dont easily understand how to manage this correctly.
