DVDs mounts ok, but can't mount CDs

Hello,

I have Ubuntu 9.10. The system mounts automatically DVDs ok, but when I insert a CDrom nothing happens.

Any help on how I can activate the CD automatic mounting?

thanks a lot,

Are they data CDs, or music CDs? Music CDs cannot be mounted, and are accessed through the raw device file by media software.

If they are data CDs on the other hand, then they should be mounting. Are you able to mount the disc manually?

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Both data and music CDs cannot be mounted automatically.

I tried to mount manually using sudo mount /media/cdrom0/ -o unhide but no joy.

I'm not a pro - I may be doing something wrong - please tell me if it's so.

Here's the content of my fstab:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier
# for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name
# devices that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

Try option Users and Groups open it as System administrator and look what the Account properties are.
Among others you should have use cd-rom devices
use audio devices
use video devices
selected as properties
