Dual boot with FC6 and Ubuntu?

Hey Guys:

I'm running FC6 on my laptop right now but I'd also like to have Ubuntu, Feisty Fawn on there as well. I'm a noob but I do know it can be done through Grub. I have Ubuntu in the cd drive right now and it's asking me about partitions. It has the option of "Guided - use the entire disk." or "Manual". If I choose manual it asks me how to setup the partition. I'm used to Windows XP so the look of Linux windows is strange to me. I have no idea how much room my current installation of FC6 is using. Can someone please walk me through the steps?

How much free space do you have on the hard drive, and how many partition's is FC6 taking up?

I have a 40GB drive in my laptop and FC6 is taking up the entire partition.

Well first of all i have tryed and failed, although i didn't try that hard to do the same thing on a desktop with enough room that your attempting with FC6 and Ubuntu. I found my problem with the bootloader but thats for another time and something for you to look in too. Your going to have to repartition your hard drive to make room for ubuntu, i would venture to say installing FC6 first would be wise, ubuntu seems to play nicer with other OS's to a certain degree. It's standard for both, a easy layout is make a root, home, and swap for both, your going to need to make logical partitions, ubuntu makes this easy when you go through the custom setup, it's pretty much the same for FC6, and if all else fails play with it, you can reinstall to your hearts desire for perfection. If you use /usr, root doesn't need to be that big, although i'd say atleast 2G depends what your doing, /usr as all the programs which will take up most of the room for a new install. And some good advice, it's best to research these things first and then if your lost you come here. Maybe you did maybe you didn't, hopefully you find some use for my words. O yea i believe you can share the swap partitions between the two, but i'm not sure about that.
