I had linux a while ago, and ran Fedora Core 2. I recently decided to install it again, and some people I talked to pointed me in the directin of Ubuntu.
Well, basically here is my problem. I have windows running off a 4gb IDE hdd, needless to say, I cant put linux on that. My other drive is a 120gb SATA which I use as a slave.
I was wondering, would it be possible to dual boot with Linux on my 120gb SATA hdd and windows still on my 4gb IDE?
Thanks.

Yes, it's possible. Just create linux and swap partitions on the second hard drive /dev/hdb. Then configure /etc/lilo.conf to boot from both drives and run "lilo".

Hmm...excuse the n00bness, but how would i go about swapping partitions? A program like partition magic? or will it let me do that when installing ubuntu?
Thanks for the help.
<EDIT>
I just noticed there was a thread just like this right down the page. I should really look around before starting new threads....
but anyway, will it matter if windows is the primary OS and is on the master IDE drive? Will I be able to dual boot it off the SATA, or does Linux have to be master to dual boot?

If you want to copy the Windows partition over, create a partition exactly the same size on the 2nd drive with a program like cfdisk. Then run "dd -if /dev/FROM_PARTITION -of /dev/TO_PARTITION", that should make a bit for bit copy.
