Drive space - 100% in use but there is space?

Hi

I seem to have a problem where there is or should be space on a drive on my Ubuntu server but the system does not allow me to copy data to it.

Here is the relevant output of a df -h command on the server

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdb1 294G 276G 2.8G 100% /netdata
/dev/sda3 91G 88G 0 100% /netmusic

You will notice that there is a large enough difference between the Size and the Used fields yet the Use% is at 100%

Why is this and how do I fix this.

Please let me know if you need any further info

Thanks

G

Linux reserves a small amount of disk space (5% perhaps?) for the kernel's use if it runs into an out of disk space emergency. This means that application programs run out of disk space when the disk is 95% full.

Thanks for the reply

I have deleted a little more and found that after 5% becomes available the free space starts counting up.

Many thanks
