Drive Icons on Gnome Desktop- GO AWAY NOW
Hi All,
Just installed edgy. One annoying thing: drive icons such as for hda1 or a loaded cd or dvd appear on the gnome desktop. I remember this happening in dapper and was able to figure out to disappear them. Having trouble finding the option to do so in eft. Thanks, ab |
in KDE, goto control center, desktop, behavior, device icons. you can get rid of the icons there.I AM ASSUMING THAT THERE IS a similar area in the gnome control center yes?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not seeing the same thing in gnome. I'm sure I'm just overlooking it. Thoughts?
Thanks Again, ab |
Try installing gnome-mount, then restart X

System-> Preferences-> "Removable Drives and Media" provide some level of GUI control over mounting. Perhaps the appearance of a desktop icon is related to one of those selection. There are also udev rules for mounting various media when connected. That may give you what you need. I'm not the right person to ask about changing those rules.
