Does Apt-get dist-upgrade automatically update the kernel?

I use kernel 2.6.10 and after a poor recompile I was forced to reinstall Ubuntu. Just wondering if when Breezy comes out, it will automatically update the kernel with apt.

You will only get security fixes in Ubuntu. Sometimes a kernel is updated with these fixes but you won't get a new version. When Breezy comes out you'll be able to point your apt sources to Breezy's repos and do an apt-get dist-upgrade and you will upgrade to Breezy and get the standard Breezy kernel.

In general those apps (like slapt-get, apt-get, etc) with the notable exception of RedHat's up2date won't update the kernel by default. You can usually set a config option to un-blacklist the kernel packages though (but I won't contradict Ubuntu-specific advice since I don't know Ubuntu).
