Display problem in D505

Hi All,

I have just finished installing Ubuntu 9.04 on Virtual Box.
My System is Dell D505 and card in it is Intel (R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller.

The problem is that when I want to enable desktop effects, an error pops up that says "Desktop Effects could not be enabled".

Kindly suggest what do I need to do to eradicate this problem.

Regards,
Kashif Saleem Mirza

Your problem is that you have Ubuntu in a virtual machine. Now, VBox does have an option to enable 3D acceleration, but there is no guarantee that it will actually work. (Enabling 3D acceleration is in the "General" section of options.)
