Display filenames in other languages?

I'm still pretty new to Linux.

Have been using Ubuntu (with Gnome and KDE) for a few weeks now, am very pleased with everything overall.

I've gotten some other non-english language support working - asian fonts show up fine when surfing the net, and I can use various input methods when necessary (chinese, korean, etc).

The only thing that isn't co-operating so well is that files on my NTFS partitions with filenames in Korean and Chinese simply don't show up when looking for them in Konqueror; it's as if they don't exist.

I'd rather not change my primary OS language to English, as that's my mother tongue - I just need some auxillary language support so that other language files play nice with my system (and so that my Korean wife can easily access her files as needed...if this works then she'll be on the open-source bandwagon...)
