Disable GRUB

I was trying Ubuntu 7.04 in a Compaq Presario (notebook). The internal SATA disk still running XP Home. The Ubuntu distro was installed in a usb external HD.
Now when start the machine can't load WinXP if the usb hd (ubuntu inside)is not present.
How to solve this?

Boot with your windows CD and enter recovery mode, then type fixmbr. Or use a Win98/ME boot disk and type fdisk /mbr
