Difference: Kubuntu or kde-desktop on ubuntu?

What is the difference between installing Kubuntu, or doing apt-get install kubuntu-dekstop on Ubuntu? What's the difference in the end result?

If you prefer to keep your installation lean than go with Kubuntu. I would imagine that installing Ubuntu than adding KDE will leave all of those gnome libs laying around not to mention some services and/or startup programs.

If you install Ubuntu then install kubuntu-desktop then you will have Gnome (with all the libs) and KDE installed and be able to use both. It you install Kubuntu from CD/DVD then you'll just have KDE (and, yes, a leaner system)

Dont know about anyone else but every time that I used Kde with gnome, my system slowed down too much!

I like Ubuntu with kubuntu-desktop because, as stated above, I have the gnome libs. I also like gdm better than kdm.
