Desktop Widgets for 10.04 LTS

Hey forums,

I've seen all kinds of cool screen shots and videos on youtube of people with these cool weather widgets and stuff on their desktops. I want to know if it's possible to install these things on 10.04 Gnome, what ones you personally suggest or find useful and where to get them.

Also is there security risks when installing these things?

I am not pretty sure that you can run Desktop widgets perfectly in GNOME. But, KDE plasma works perfectly for Widgets. For GNOME, here are few links that can help you,
