demux problems in xine-ui

when i tried to play a vcd, xine-ui player firstly played it without sound, stating audio layer mpeg 1/2 is not supported, continue anyway. After that, it didn't recognized the vcd format.what should i do?

hello :-)
go here http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/allpackages and download the package for win32 codec. you also need to download (exact names i cannot recall at the moment) the sound libraries (lame, aac, mpeg4) play dvd/vcd.

ok very thanks.but i can't find any win32 package in packages.ubuntu.Plz help me.i hav already installed lame, aac, mpeg4 packages

add this to your /etc/apt/sources.list

then run

sudo apt-get install w32codecs

oh! i got it worked.thanks for your support.Actually, it worked when i played the vcd using xine vcd:// in the command line. it is stills howing the demux error when i try to play by drag n drop the .dat file to the xine.

still i'm happy to be linux. i feel like i'm into a new world, surrounded by a lot people who r good at heart, friendly, willing...Love you all
