dbus / ConsoleKit Hell... (Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot)
 

I seem to have fallen into the same general trap which apparently a lot of others have, regarding dbus issues that include ConsoleKit, Pulse audio, auto-mounting of external block devices, etc., etc. I have no idea if it was a recent upgrade which did this, but I have not done a major upgrade for a while -- and this problem suddenly appeared after a reboot yesterday. I tried reinstalling dbus and console-kit (sic), to no avail.

I also note that /var/run and /var/lock are already symlinks to /run and /run/lock respectively -- so no issues from that end, I would think.

I also note that '~/.kde/share/config/kded_device_automounterrc' -- updated upon mounting external block devices -- was corrupted, and had barely any legible stanza text in it. There may be a clue there.

Any ideas?
