Dark screen after screen saver O_o!!

Hello every one:

i have just made a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.04, but i have discovered a small issue with my display, i have an Ati AIW x800 with propietary drivers and every thing is just as good as it gets (with no fancy 3d desktop but playing games ) the problem is with the screen saver, just after it gets on, my desktop is all dark, i can see the icons and menu bars but is just too dark, the only solution is to restart X ( ctrl+Alt+ backspace) first i thought it was because of my crt display, but i discarted the idea when i saw the same problem with an LCD screen.

i realy do have no idea whats wrong what about you guys?
