Custom Ubuntu Live/Install CD

What I want to do is create a customized, livecd/installation Ubuntu disc for personal use. I want to learn how to add programs I want to automatically install, add my own wallpaper, themes, etc, as well as add my most used documents, etc to a customized Ubuntu Installation disk for myself. It would also just be fun to try (hopefully do,) this.

But where do I start?
What tools are needed?
What Wiki's, documents, information, links will be helpful?
(also after I learn what to do,) Where can I learn how to make ISO's and a MD5SUM?

Everyone seems to be making a variation of Ubuntu, so why not give it a try for myself, lol.

(If this has already been asked somewhere else here at LQ and I missed it, please point me to that thread if it answers all, and more, of my questions above.)

Thanks in advance.

Try these, they may not be exactly what you want but should give you a few pointers.

Thanks for those links. I have been playing around with some of what I am learning from them and I think I may not use Ubuntu after all, at least not at first. I may go with Knoppix until I get better at this and then try other ones. Unless anyone knows of one I could use thats even better then Knoopix? (One that is based on the Debian.)
