control keys, underscore, and others stopped working.

I am not sure if this is a gnome or X or ubuntu problem, but a bunch of my keys have stopped working. More specifically, home, end, pg up/down, dash and equals sign keys, all the control x keys and ctrl alt fx.

I am somewhat of a newbie so I am not sure where to look to fix this problem. I have tried reinstalling xorg, and of course I checked the gnome keyboard preferences to see if anything was out of line there.

I did some googling on this problem and didnt come up with anything.

I dont know what information from my computer is needed so I'll just wait for people to ask.

So, any ideas where to start?

Edit: I also tried plugging in several other keyboards to make sure it wasnt a hardware issue. The problem is the same on all of them.
