Connect LG A340 via USB

(Checked for similar) Has anyone done this with Ubuntu or connected another phone? Thanks!

Yes: HTC with TinyCoreLinux.
I just loaded pictures from the SD card to/from the PC.
An option on the Mobile (connection to pc / HDD) had to be choosen for making a connection between PC and SD card of the HTC.
So, the HTC could be scrolled like an USB-cardreader.
Hopefully it helps.

What was the option? My phone options include 'mass storage' 'data service', 'always ask' and 'music sync'.

My HTC, German setup,
has the "Festplatte" option which mean mass-storage for having access to the SD card.

Data Service

So what does "data service" mean? Can you connect to a computer without using an SD card?

Yes, using the USB cable, and it starts charging as well. But the computer doesn't see the picture files...

so connecting with the usb cable if you don't have an sd card renders the computer as good as a wall outlet?
