Configuring indicator plugins xfce4
I have a question about the indicator plugin for applets in xfce4 in Xubunutu. What actually controls them? I mean, when I hit the network icon, I can add modify or change network settings. Where is this info stored and what is run to actually make the changes? The same for bluetooth. I want to remove the mail, but the only info I can find is un-installing the plugin.
Mainly, I just want to understand how it works. tj |
are you talking about this one:
"http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-indicator-plugin"? first of all, it's always informative to look at dependencies. on my archlinux system, the package xfce4-indicator-plugin depends on: 'xfce4-panel' 'libindicator-gtk2' 'libindicator-gtk3' 'hicolor-icon-theme' 'xdg-utils'. what else? you have to understand how and why gnome/unity uses "indicators" in addition to / instead of systray icons and notifications. |
