computer freezes on wakeing up

I recently enabled sleep and hibernation on my acer laptop running ubuntu 6.06. Hibernation works just fine, and I can put my laptop to sleep, but when I try to bring it back out, the screen and hd will come on, but the screen remains blank. Does anyone know why sleep is doing this to me in ubuntu?

What vid card is in it? Sounds like that might be vid card driver issue.

This should give you all the info you need on my hardware, includeing my vid card and screen. Also, if you could point me in the right direction for setting up video acceleration, I think that would help me with dropped frames I'm haveing during DVD playback.
