Compiz install
 
hi guys

I am new to linux, and trying to install compiz? I do some google and follow the guides and end up reinstall my ubuntu.

Can anyone show me how to install COmpiz on ubuntu 6.1 (slowly please)

the easiest way to install programs in ubuntu is through the Synaptic Package Manager. This is located under System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager. Do a search for compiz, click the box and select install. Then click apply in the toolbar. Thats pretty much it, all dependencies will be installed as well.

hello, i did exactly that... but i didnt get any results...

in Synaptic Manager it 'says' its installed... but..now what?

There's a bit more to getting compiz to work than just installing it. You said you found some guides but that didn't work for you. I'm not sure what guide you were following, but a good place to start for doing a lot of different things in ubuntu is ubuntuguide.org. If you're still having problems post back explaining exactly where you're getting stuck and any error messages than might be given.
