Changing terminal options

How do I change my non-graphical mode term options? When I used slackware in non-x mode the font is quite small and stream-lined but when I used ubuntu (and other distribs such as mandrake, etc) the non-x mode has large fonts and just does not look too good.

Thanks,

Scorp

I basically am talking about that but I want it for when I am in non-x mode not when I have a konsole open in X.
