Changing Kmenu/Kicker icon in Kubuntu 9.04 KDE4

Hi,

sorry am having to post what loads of other people seemed to post before me but I am not able to solve this issue. I am trying to create a desktop theme for KDE4 on my KUbuntu 9.04 system which is based on Ubuntu Jaunty.

I have gone through both these posts thoroughly:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ighlight=kmenu

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...nge+kmenu+icon

with 0% success!!!!

I created an icon of size 16x16 32x32 48x48 64x64 and 128x128. Actually the width was a bit longer so 32x50 is the ratio.

The part that is driving me nuts is that by default KUbuntu uses the Oxygen theme, so I have renamed my icon to kmenu.png and put in:

/usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/NNxNN/apps/ originally, then having realized that in fact the icon theme was oxygen I copied them over here:

/usr/share/icons/oxygen/NNxNN/apps/

Logged out and back in; nothing!

Originally there wasn't any kmenu.png files under oxygen theme anyway so I proceeded to change /usr/share/icons/oxygen/NNxNN/actions/show-menu.png

which also after logging out and in did nothing. I have even changed icon sets to crystalsvg then back to oxygen but no luck.

What is going on here and what am I doing wrong????

Many thanks!

I managed to find it!

It seems to be under /usr/share/icons/oxygen/32x32/places/start-here-kde??

I have changed so many icons I can't keep track but I will put them all back soon apart from this and see what happens.

Needed to change icon themes then revert as logging out and in didn't do anything!

Also my icon size needs adjusting too - I blame Gnome2 and Sun Microsystems for that as I used a hack of the SXCE JDS launcher hahaha errrr!!

Well it's been fun - NOT! :-P
