Question Change names of applications nautilus

You may have noticed from my signature line that I'm running KDE in my Linux Mint 18 (which uses the repos for Ubuntu 16.04). So why would I want to know how to change the names of applications in Nautilus' right-click-to-drop-down menu at selection "Open with?"

Among other customisations, I have:

• Added GNOME Viewer, GNOME Editor, and GNOME Terminal from the repos;
• Added XViewer and Eye Of Mate (for their old-school EOM features);
• Tried Nautilus, but with one thing and another could never get it menu bar to show up (even after using GNOME Tweak Tool), so I switched to Nemo and made it my "primary" file navigator (more on that soonest);
• Also with one thing and another, with four almost-identical image viewers, Nemo, IMO brilliantly geared though it is towards lower memory usage, gives all four the same name.

That's the bit I want to change. It's been a few years since I've used ordinary Ubuntu (back when 12.04 was the latest), so I've forgotten which tool, if there is one, to make this change. I suspect it's the GNOME counterpart to KDE Menu Editor (kmenuedit). If so, please instruct me how to get it from the repos or, failing that, an appropriate source for a DEB package?

The name displayed is determined by the .desktop file - which would normally be found in /usr/share/applications/
For instance, if I wanted to change the name of my XViewer, I would open that file in my text editor (as root).
Code:
gksudo xed /usr/share/applications/xviewer.desktop
The Name= line is what I would change:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Image Viewer
Comment=Browse and rotate images
TryExec=xviewer
Exec=xviewer %U

Some .desktop files include Name= lines for a large number of different languages, so you would change the line for the language you are using.
