can't receive e-mails in evolution

Hi, I have just loaded Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop and failed to read the instructions for the Evolution e-mail and now I can send but can't receive mail and I can't find a way to set my "password". I have since loaded Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop and was able to enter my password on the FIRST e-mail sent me. What do I do on my laptop??

edit ur account and type true pop3.

Thanks for the reply, but before I got it I so screwed up the Evolution thing I screwed up everything else so I am in the process of reistalling Ubuntu. Don't get old (I'm 82) it doesn't pay.
