Can't figure out how to configure sound in mplayer
Here is the Error message i get "Could not open/initialize audio device -> No sound." There is a way to configure the sound device, however, i don't know where my Alsa driver is in the file system. Also, i am new to linux... Any Help would be awesome.!!!!!

Hi, LG - I'm running Mplayer on three different computers and having problems with it on all three. The good news is that I have sound in two of them but have problems connecting to websites and watching quicktime movies online. Have you run alsaconf from the commandline to select your soundcard and configure it? Also, I've seen a lot of information online regarding Ubuntu and Mplayer. Here's a link for you. I hope that it sheds a little light on your situation. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=361425

Thanks for the reply
I actually kind of figured it out. However, the sound i do get is breaking up. It kind of comes in and out or maybe sounds like its not keeping up with the video. Hope you understand what i am talking about. When i open mplayer, I recieve this error " [ws] Sorry, your system does not support the xshape extension." Any ideas on this error??? I haven't tried the alsaconf, because i am a newbie and i couldn't remember the command. I will try that and i will check out the website. Thanks again
