Can't enable Compiz Fusion on Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8.
Hello, I've recently installed Kubuntu 11.10 because I wanted to give a try to KDE 4.8 and I've done everything to install this version and it's running very well but I can't enable compiz fusion for some reason I don't understand and in fact it's the same that uses to happen with the version 4.7.4 of KDE, if you have ever tried you know what I'm talking about.
Finally I could use some help here all I want is to make it work. In advance thank you very much, see you soon. |
Any extra information that you require just make me know.

Well I may not be the best guy to answer this as I can't stand either KDE or Compiz.
However, I do not think that you can use Compiz under KDE. I believe what you want to try is "kwin". I believe that is a similar thing that is actually built for KDE. |
Hi widget. I know what you are saying about kwin. Kwin is the default window manager for KDE and I can remember that I used Compiz with Linux Mint 10 KDE but I like the new version 4.8 which I also agree and I've started to think that this is another desktop environment that doesn't support Compiz anymore...I'm ashamed.
Correcting a bit what I said before, kwin also has similar desktop effects to Compiz and also I can't run them, it appears a message saying "the following effects can't be enabled:" and then, there is a list. I also wanted to add that I do have graphical acceleration, if I type in the terminal "glxinfo" the result is "Direct rendering: yes". Anyway if no one else has something to add to this post, I'm giving up right now. |
