Cannot load flash plugin in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I've installed latest flash plugin for my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The flash player is of verstion 11.2.202.280

When I open a web page with Flash embedded, Firefox or Chromium will complain 'cannot load flash'.

What can I do to fix the problem?

Ubuntu 10.04 is end-of-life and unsupported on the desktop: http://fridge.ubuntu.com/2013/05/10/...on-may-9-2013/

Once you have upgraded to a supported Ubuntu, then you can use these instructions to install Flash: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Re...dFormats/Flash

This makes couple of help threads started dealing with 10.04 in the last couple weeks. Might be a good time to direct peoples attention to this sticky in this ubuntu questions section of LQ;
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-linux-524950/

I should note that that post is accurate for Ubuntu 10.04. Ubuntu has changed their support for LTS versions to 5 years but that has been put in place after 10.04 and I am not sure which LTS version it starts with. I am sure it is covered by ubuntu documentation somewhere.

The other thing with Flash is it is not supported anymore in Linux (apart from security updates) by Adobe. I am seeing an increasing number of sites who require a newer version than is available in Linux. Your only real option is to install Chrome (or Chromium and install pepperflash from Chome in Chromium).
