cannon ip90v printer stopping jobs

I have a Cannon iP90v printer on a sony vgn-s150, connected via usb, 6.06 dapper, kernel 2.6.15-28-386
, cannon driver from japanese website: ij-2.70 4/07 release date.

used alien to convert rpm to deb, installed, restarted cups.

printer detected fine, but when i print, printing module "stops" all print jobs before the printer can print them. if i click resume, it still says, "stopped."

how can i fix this?

resolved somewhat...

discovered that the cups bjc-7000 (and to some degree bjc-800)drivers work ok. they don't support the best resolution (photo printing) but they will get my business docs printed fine.

if anyone knows of an awesome driver (or modifications to the japanese drivers)that would work nice with this printer, please let me know.
