Can not get vnc server to run on ubuntu

I installed ubuntu-sparc 6.06.1 Dapper on my sun-blade 100 and I also downloaded the kubuntu desktop using apt-get. I have downloaded the vncserver and xvncviewer packages, but I can not get the viewer to connect.
Code:

cuschu@Xserve2:/$ vncviewer 127.0.0.1:5900
vncviewer: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused
Unable to connect to VNC server

This is the output I get.

I have not had this much trouble setting up a vnc server before and I am sure the solution is simple, yet I do not know which conf files need to be changed, and I don't know what kind of firewall security is default on Ubuntu server

I got it to run. At the command prompt I had to type "vncserver" to start the service and for some reason it would only work after I rebooted the machine. Once it was rebooted, however, it worked just fine. Sorry I posted this a little prematurely
