Can’t get video from Youtube to play
How do I get video from youtube to play on Dapper. Error says that either Java or Flash isn’t installed but I presume that they are as I’ve run the installer from adobe which seemed to install ok, and I’ve installed Java.
Any help would be appreciated. |
I am assuming that you are using either firefox or mozilla to watch these videos. In that case, the first thing you need to do is click on Help | About Plug-Ins and make sure that the plugins for Flash are truly installed. If not, you need to place the flash plugin module into a place where mozilla or firefox can access them.
The file you are truly looking for in a manual installation is "libflashplayer.so", and you want this file to at least be located in ~/.mozilla/plugins. This is good for a single user, but if you want it to be accessible system-wide you need to place it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. |

If getting it direct from Adobe puts you to the source file (*.tar.gz), then just go to any other website that uses Flash, besides Youtube, and Mozilla Firefox will automatically download and install Flash 7.
