As I wait for Mint Xfce to come out, installed ubuntu. I tried to download a torrent in transmission.
I click on the link, transmission icon pops up on the side. When I click on it, transmission doesn't open up. I can't see it anywhere.
How can I find out about how it's doing if it doesn't open up? Anything I click on, on the side panel, it opens except transmission.
Should come up with a UI. To check if you are running it at all, from a terminal window, how about trying:
Code:
$ ps -ef | grep transmission
And you should, or should not see transmission-gtk running somewhere. Hoping not because I've never seen an instance where it is running and you don't get a window in the window manager. Another option is to kill whatever is running and then try:
Code:
$ transmission-gtk &
from a terminal window and verify that you get a process running, but that also it brings up a UI form of transmission. Note to do this from a terminal window within the window manager.

I downloaded filezilla and it does the same thing. Click on it, the only thing that happends is the screen goes to the desktop, darkened (everything goes away to the desktop but its dark).
Chris.

Filezilla has nothing to do with this. Did you check the processes and try to run via a terminal prompt as suggested?

I will check and post back. Actually it does. If you click on "files" files opens. If you click on "Firefox" Firefox opens. Click on "LibreOffice" LebreOffice opens. Click on "System Settings" System Settings opens. Click on "Vlc" VLC opens. Click on "Transmission" Transmission doesn't open. Click on "Filezilla" fillazilla doesn't open.
