can't open attachment in email client(evolution, thunderbird)
I upgraded my ubuntu to 11.10 recently.
When I double click the attached file in my email, (both evolution and thunderbird), the folder contain the file instead of the file itself is opened. This also happens when I double click the file I download from google-chrome. I also use mendeley to organize my papers, and the same thing happens when I click "explicitly open the pdf". How can I fix this issue? |
In Thunderbird, go to Edit-->Preferences-->Attachments There should be a list of Content Type -- Action.
You can change the default action by the order they appear in the list. For example, for .pdf files, I have the first action of 'Open with xpdf' and the second, to save to a defined location. If the install formatted your /home/yourusername/ directory, any preferences would have been set to application defaults, not the way you had them before the install. This could have ( should have ) been avoided by not formatting the home directory. |
Thanks for your reply, Camorri.
My problem is that I can not open the pdf file with pdf view (evince) within the email or chrome download tab. When I double click it, it turns out open the directory contain the file. But it will directly open it with evince when I double click it in the folder. Any suggestions about this issue? |
