can't install GTK+ 2.6

hey guys,

i've been trying to install a newer version of GTK than the 2.0 that came with Edgy eft.

however, synaptic package manager does not allow for an upgrade. is there anyway i can force it to download the package, and setup all its dependencies.

i've tried setting it up manually, and its a real b****, so i was hoping theres some package manager that can help.

i've also tried setting the universe and multiverse packages checkbox, but no joy.

go get another distro

If you don't want to set it up by hand, you'll have to wait until it's packaged in the next Ubuntu version or use another distro as utopicdog stated.
As you saw, setting it up by hand is really hard. That's why they freeze package versions.
