Can't access Breezy repositories
After installing Breezy I'm having issues with apt repositories. I edited the apt sources list and uncommented the universe and multiverse repos. However when I updated via apt-get I got the following :
"Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.193 80] Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.193 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.151 80] Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.193 80] Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.193 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.151 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.151 80] Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 82.211.81.151 80] Reading package lists... Also shouldn't some of those repos have been found? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I dont no wheter it will work for u guys, i just run a nslookup in the terminal for the site for eg
nslookup XX.archive.ubuntu.com where XX is ur country code and then try apt-get install <pkg_name> it works for me ; Ive no clue y the terminal needs to have an nslookup run every time |
I have had this same problem for about 3 days now and I have tried every solution that I could find. I finally found (on another forum) a solution that worked for me.
The things I tried: 1) Restore the default keys in Synaptic (settings > repositories > authentication > restore desault keys 2) Code:
sudo apt-get clean 4) Commented out the cd in /etc/apt/sources Finally:: 5) I found on another forum, the suggestion to create a new /var/lib/apt/lists folder. (you also need a new lists/partial folder...) I renamed my old lists folder then created a new one with: Code:
:/var/lib/apt$ sudo mkdir -p lists/partial Code:
sudo apt-get clean Code:
apt-get update |
It is a known problem a lot of people are experiencing. It does come and go on my system. I've read several fixes on ubuntuforums.org.

I found this link on one of the Ubuntu repositories. It's let me download everything I need except for the w32codecs which uses another link.

yes, the servers are having problems at the moment, and not all of them are working. However, DO NOT put in the backports on the sources.list. Breezy should have just universe and multiverse available.

That said, you don't tell us what version of Ubuntu (assuming, you don't say), you're using, and on what kind of hardware, or if this has ever worked for you. Did you just enable backports? What are you trying to accomplish? The Ubuntu forums reference this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/25717...rts-repository |
THank you for your replying.

You were also asked in the previous response if this has ever worked for you or not, but you haven't answered. You were given a link previously, which detailed how to resolve the problem for Ubuntu 12.04+. Unless you tell us what the results of your actions were, we can't guess...and that page also had a link to further instructions on the Ubuntu site: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports Did you read that? |
