Building a system & new wide gamut IPS LCD & cameracorder; any compatibility issues?
 

I want to build a AMD system and have never worked with AMD before. I will list all my specs. just in case someone has had difficulites with any of the components.

Down the road, I want to finally get my first cameracorder; Panasonic HDC-TM300(-which is the only "prosumer" model of that price range with an EVF) - comes with SD card and 32 GB flash memory & USB connection). Eventually I want to combine some light video editing with some photo editing.

What may be the most tricky equipment is the LP2475W H-IPS monitor from HP (LG made panel that is similar model to the apple cinema displays- but costs less). It comes with Windows drivers only, but it seems to be just for uniformity with a scanner or printer, and my Epson V500 scanner does not work in Ubuntu anyways!- So will this wide gamut monitor (if calibrated) be off in terms of colour space- since the apps have to recognise the profile (this version of firefox should have the option)- and you can work in RGB in Photoshop (rather than sRGB) but I am unsure if the latest version of the Gimp supports it.

I will be getting the computer first so I have plenty of time to change my mind on the other 2 items-if something else comes up better or if its completely non-linux friendly.

Sata2 2 X Seagate 8M 160 and 1 X 16M 500 GiG (some people use solid state for video editing but I think the screen is already almost overkill)
Case: Antex ATX 300 Black & PSU 550W (neo Power)

If any one has any advice on these choices for multimedia in general- not just for Ubuntu- 'cause I admit I am not windows free, and I mean multiboot not Wine!

I don't think the monitor would be a problem. Your video card will be able to handle it. Speaking of your video card, the nvidia web site says the 190.53 driver supports your video card. I'm not sure if the 185 driver in Ubuntu 9.10 supports your card. I don't find it listed here in the supported products list:

So you may need to install the 190.53 driver from nvidia.com.
